Retailing is the largest private sector industry in the world economy with global size exceeding $ 6.6 triillion. Most of the retail in India is in unorganized sector. The organized retail market is expected to grow by 20% to 25% on YOY basis, generating about 10% of GDP. It will be the largest source of employment after agriculture and industries. The liberalization policy of the government has opened retail market for MNCs such as Wal-mart, Tesco, etc. which will make this sector more attractive and competitive.
