Startups Club announces its very first annual event for Startups – DEMO DAY 2013

One the biggest challenges startups face is to put their business out in front of prospective client, investors and the general public at large. Having the recognition of these individuals can make the difference between success and failure. Keeping this in mind, Startups Club has decided to create a platform through which startups are able to reach investors, prospective business client and demonstrate their products to a wide audience.

The guest panel brought in by Startups Club will be specifically selected, based on the profile of the selected startups in order to enable pitching as well as validation to take place. Ideally, we would bring in decision makers from the industry side, which can pursue deals with the startups if they are interested.

Not only this, the chosen startups will be given mentoring sessions by individuals who have years of experience in the area of building a startup, project management, marketing, design and etc. prior to the Demo Day.

All startups / aspiring startups that wish to demonstrate can submit their entry with a ten slide presentation covering their business idea, team, business model and revenue model along with a DD of Rs. 2000/- (which will be given back if not selected). A registration fee of Rs.600/- (non-refundable) must be paid to get the Registration Ticket. Details of registration process and assistance in submission will be provided once the registration is initiated by purchasing the Registration Ticket.

All startups applying for this program will be exempted from the visitor’s entry fee.

Visitor’s entry will be Rs.300/-. To pickup your Visitor’s Ticket.

The startups and companies offering products / services to startups can put up stalls with their offerings or be associated with us by being our sponsors.

Equity For Startups: Saturday, Aug 03 2013 @ IIMB Auditorium July 26, 2013

Equity For Startups: Saturday, Aug 03 2013 @ IIMB Auditorium

Among the more important decisions that an entrepreneurs makes is that of raising capital. Many choices have to be made in this context: Debt versus Equity. Own funds versus Funding from outside investors and so on. These choices have long-term implications for the entrepreneur as well as the start-up. Equity funding is essential for the growth of a startup. Apart from providing critical funding equity investors also often bring added value by way of connections and strategic advice.

At the same time raising equity capital means sharing control and sharing wealth with the investors in the firm. Allowing investors in the firm to engage with the management of the startup calls for a certain degree of compatibility between the investor and the management of the enterprise. Absence of such compatibility can lead to unhappy relationships between the investor and the management team.

All things considered, managing the equity of a start-up is among the most critical decisions that an entrepreneur needs to make. It involves many trade-offs on the entrepreneurial journey. Which makes Managing the Equity of A Start Up a challenging question. What does dilution of equity mean? How does the arithmetic of dilution work? How does an entrepreneur decide on when to raise equity? And how much of equity to raise?

Managing equity mobilization is not a science. It is best to learn about it from those who have been engaged in that art as entrepreneurs, investors and analysts.

Participate in the NSRCEL Equity For Startups seminar to get inputs on Equity management and to generate ideas on how you could leverage this crucial tool to make your business more successful.
